Boris Margolin ( Russian Борис Марголин ; born May 14, 1971 in Moscow ) is a German chess player of Russian origin. He bears the title of International Master .

Life

From 1988 to 1993 he studied technical cybernetics and automation at the Moscow University Institute for Process Engineering. He completed his studies with a degree in mechanical engineering. Since he moved to Germany in 1996, he has played almost continuously for SV Oberursel in the Oberliga and 2nd Bundesliga . From 2017 to 2019 Margolin played for SV 1920 Hofheim in the 1st Bundesliga . He also played club chess in Russia and France for Illkirch-Graffenstaden in Nationale II and Nationale III.

In 1996/97 he won the 2nd Open and in 1997/98 the 3rd Open in Bad Vilbel . He was Hessian individual champion in 1997 in Frankfurt-Bergen-Enkheim and in the same year before Stefan Reschke in the northwest center city ​​champion of Frankfurt am Main . With the Lufthansa chess team , he won the ASCA tournament in Reykjavík in 2001 . It was the first time in the 32-year history of this event that Lufthansa emerged as the winner. In 2012 he won the 10th Open in Davos .
