Boris Schmitz

Boris Alexander Schmitz (* 1962 in Wuppertal ) is a German violinist .

biography

Boris Schmitz was born in Wuppertal in 1962 and began taking violin lessons at the age of five . After his first public appearances at the age of nine, he began studying music at the age of twelve in a violin class at the Cologne University of Music and Dance (Wuppertal Department).

In 1977 he was a master student of Max Rostal in Cologne. In the same year he played for the first time, the Violin Concerto in E minor by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy before the concert audience. From 1979 he continued his studies under Igor Ozim and Leonid Kogan .

Honored several times with prizes and awards, Schmitz has given numerous violin concertos as a soloist in all parts of the world. He is a founding member of the Silberman Piano Trio and plays with numerous other well-known musicians such as the Amadeus Quartet , the Quartetto Italiano , Rudolf Haenel , Alison Lander , Sergej Leipson , Günther Ludwig (musician) , Derek Han (piano), Alain Meunier , Boris Pergamenschikow ( Cello), Chan-Joo We (viola) and Bruno Garbarino (clarinet) in chamber concerts .
