Leonard Solomon "Len" Blum (* 1951 in Montreal , Québec , Canada ) is a Canadian screenwriter , musician , yoga teacher , and columnist who wrote several films for Ivan Reitman .

Life

Leonard Solomon Blum grew up in both Toronto and Montreal. He attended Westdale Secondary School in Hamilton , where he was not only a classmate of Daniel Goldberg , but also pursued his music and played alongside several school rock bands with The Brass Union . From 1972 he studied at McMaster University , where he graduated in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in social sciences . During his studies he worked as a record producer, recording technician, guitarist and was active in several bands. On the side he wrote several songs, produced music spots and wrote two plays with Midnight Opera (1977) and After The Opera (1978).

This led to the fact that Ivan Reitman , whom he had already met while studying together at McMaster, became aware of him and asked him to write his first script for him with baby fat and meatballs . And after it turned out how successful his collaboration was, he moved with Goldberg from 1983 to 1986 to Los Angeles , where he wrote other films such as heavy metal , I believe me smooch an elk and FBI Academy . He then moved back to Canada and spoke again, with a brief stopover in Los Angeles between 1991 and 1993.

After working as a columnist at The National Post , Blum has been a trained and teaching yoga teacher since 2003 and has been running his own yoga studio in Montreal since 2005, where he currently works full-time.

Blum has been married to his high school sweetheart, Heather Munroe- Blum, since 1970 . Both studied together at McMaster, where Heather became the first female principle and vice chancellor. Len Blum is also the older brother of actor and screenwriter Jack Blum .
