Boris von Poser (* 1967 in Munich ) is a German theater director .

Live and act

Growing up in Heidelberg, von Poser first studied directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . He comes from the von Poser and Groß-Naedlitz family . Between 1990 and 1992 he was assistant director to Peter Zadek at the Vienna Akademietheater and the Münchner Kammerspiele . He then took on engagements at various theater stages, including the Theater der Stadt Heidelberg , the Schauspiel Leipzig and the Münchner Kammerspiele.

His production of Gesine Danckwart's Girls Nightout in the Sophiensaele (Berlin) was nominated for the Friedrich Luft Prize in 2002; the following year the magazine Theater heute nominated von Poser in the category “Young Director of the Year”.

In addition to stage adaptations of prose works (e.g. by FM Dostojewski, H. Melville, R. Musil and several works by Leonora Carrington ), Boris von Poser has often staged world premieres - for example the 2001 world premiere of Tankred Dorst 's Kupsch at the Deutsches Theater Göttingen and the German premieres of John Patrick Shanley 's Doubt (2007, Staatstheater Karlsruhe) and Joan Didion 's The Year of Magical Thinking (2008, Ernst Deutsch Theater, Hamburg).

Von Poser works in both acting and musical theater. Since 2008 he has been teaching at various drama schools and is the author of the book Traumberuf Director .

At the Brandenburger Theater , von Poser led the Brandenburger Bürgerbühne from 2016-2018, a theater group in which amateurs and professional actors worked on performances under professional conditions. In 2018 Sommer in Brandenburg in Paretz was created for theater.land based on the novel by Urs Faes based on the same principle .
