Borja López Menéndez (born February 2, 1994 in Gijón ) is a Spanish football player . He has been under contract with HNK Hajduk Split since the 2017/18 season .
Career
In the club
López was born in the Asturian city of Gijón and initially played up to the U-10 at Xeitosa and then moved to the U-12 from Sporting Gijón . On November 16, 2012 López was first used in the first team in the Segunda División . During the entire 2012/13 season , he played 19 games.
For the 2013/14 season , López moved to French Ligue 1 for AS Monaco for around 2.2 million euros , where he received a four-year contract dated June 30, 2017. In Monaco, however, he could not prevail and only came to a league appearance. At the end of January 2014, López was loaned to Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish Primera División until the end of the season. There he came to three league appearances towards the end of the season.
For the 2014/15 season López returned to Monaco, but only came to his use in the League Cup . On January 29, 2015, he was loaned to his home country again until the end of the season, this time to Deportivo La Coruña , but was not used there.
For the 2015/16 season López did not return to Monaco, but switched to FC Arouca on loan in the Portuguese Primeira Liga . There he only made three appearances in the League Cup .
On January 30, 2016, the loan with FC Arouca ended. López then moved to the second team of FC Barcelona , where he received a contract until June 30, 2018. There he came to ten missions in the third-class Segunda División B by the end of the season . On November 30, 2016, López played for the first time in the first team in the 1-1 draw against Hércules Alicante in the first leg of the sixteenth-final first leg of the Copa del Rey .
In the national team
López played for Spain's U-18 , U-19 and U-20 selection .
