The Borkower See is located on the edge of the Sternberger Seenland nature park, in a natural landscape in the "Mittleres Mildenitztal " nature reserve . The lake is a maximum of 750 meters wide and 370 meters long and has a wedge-shaped shape with a wide northern part and a pointed southern part. The Schlower Bach flows into the western part and comes from the Kleinpritzer See lake to the west of the lake . The Mildenitz, which flows through the lake, flows into the lake in the east, only to leave it in the northwest. The lake is overgrown and algae. The former bathing area near Borkow is no longer accessible. Except for the northern part, the lakeshore is completely wooded and mostly swampy and almost entirely reeded. In the west along the Mildenitz, the Teichbruch wetland connects. Southwest of the lake, the heights with the Kavelsberg reach 51  m above sea level. NHN . On a three-kilometer educational forest trail, visitors are given information about the nature, plants and history of the region and the lake on several boards. In the forests around the Borkower See mainly coniferous trees are present. The federal highway 192 runs north of the lake .

Frora and fauna at Borkower See

Flowed through by the Mildenitz, the Borkower See is a characteristic river lake . In summer the lake can warm up very much due to its shallow depth. This favors algae growth and is typical of the river lake. On the shores of the Borkower See there is an alder forest, a typical vegetation on the edges of the water. The black alder is predominant here as well, and it tolerates the high or fluctuating water levels very well. In the herb layer there are mainly large sedge as well as the yellow-flowered water sword lily and the marsh marigold. A large number of animal species live in Borkower See, and well-known fish species such as eels and tench have their habitat here. In the bank hems nesting reed warblers and marsh tit . The beaver can be found upstream of the Mildenitz , while the river otter and kingfisher are native to the Schlower Bach .
