Frora and fauna at Borkower See
Flowed through by the Mildenitz, the Borkower See is a characteristic river lake . In summer the lake can warm up very much due to its shallow depth. This favors algae growth and is typical of the river lake. On the shores of the Borkower See there is an alder forest, a typical vegetation on the edges of the water. The black alder is predominant here as well, and it tolerates the high or fluctuating water levels very well. In the herb layer there are mainly large sedge as well as the yellow-flowered water sword lily and the marsh marigold. A large number of animal species live in Borkower See, and well-known fish species such as eels and tench have their habitat here. In the bank hems nesting reed warblers and marsh tit . The beaver can be found upstream of the Mildenitz , while the river otter and kingfisher are native to the Schlower Bach .
