Borve ( Gaelic : Borgh ) is a scattered settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Berneray . The settlement is located in the southeast of the sparsely populated island. To the north of it rises the 85 m high Borve Hill , to the south is the silted up bay of Loch Borve , a side bay of the Berneray Sound . Borve is connected to the neighboring island of North Uist via the Berneray Causeway , which leaves Berneray about one kilometer south . The pier where the ferry to Leverburgh ( Isle of Harris ) calls is also about one kilometer south. A few hundred meters northwest of the settlement are Loch Beag Bhuirgh and Loch Bhrusda, the two largest lakes on the island.

The architecture of some of the buildings in Borve is an example of an old settlement that was repopulated at the beginning of the 20th century. In the cattle sheds from this period there are also living rooms which the settlers used as accommodation until the actual houses were completed. The oldest map of the Ordnance Survey from 1880 shows 13 covered and 36 uncovered buildings. In 1971, 65 roofed, 5 partially roofed and 27 uncovered buildings were counted.
