The Botanical Garden in Schellerhau , a district of the city of Altenberg in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in Saxony , is located in the upper, southern part of the village at about 770  m above sea level. NN .

The garden, founded in 1906, sees itself as a mountain flower garden. In addition to typical plants of the Ore Mountains (areas: mountain pine bushes , stone ridges ) and the Bohemian Central Uplands are representatives of other European, Asian and North American high mountains in the areas of Asia, Caucasus, moor biotopes , grass grass , alpine flora, North America, mixed mountain forest , Bärwurzwiese , spruce mountain forest , brook and riparian vegetation, Alpenlattich - tall herb hall and dwarf shrub housed. A herb garden completes the whole thing.

The sound experience nature & music (various stationary musical instruments mostly made of natural materials) is integrated in the botanical garden and can be hiked on a sound experience path.

In 1946 the teacher and botanist Fritz Stopp took over the management of the overgrown botanical garden for about 20 years at the request of the State Association of Saxon Heritage Protection , rebuilt it and systematically expanded the inventory.

The Schellerhau Botanical Garden counted around 13,600 visitors in 2014.
