Location from Boudoris to Ptolemy

Boudoris , also Latin Budoris ( Greek  Βουδορίς ) is a place name, which in the Geographia of Claudius Ptolemaios (2, 11, 14) as one of the places in the interior of Germania (πόλεις) with 28 ° 00ˈ longitude ( Ptolemaic longitudes ) and 51 ° 00ˈ latitude (according to the handwriting Ω) or with 49 ° 00ˈ latitude (according to the handwriting X). According to Ptolemy, Boudoris lies between Alison and Mattiakon . Because of the age of the spring, the existence of the settlement around 150 AD can be assumed.

localization

So far the ancient place could not be located with certainty. An interdisciplinary research team led by Andreas Kleineberg, who re-examined and interpreted the Ptolemaic coordinates from 2006 to 2009, is currently locating Boudoris after the transformation of the ancient coordinates - because the value of the Ω handwriting (51 °) fits better with the neighboring coordinates and their distortion - at the Drachenfels near Bad Dürkheim in Rhineland-Palatinate . Remains of a fortification from Roman times have survived on the Drachenfels; Traces of the former ring wall are still faintly visible under vegetation.
