An interdisciplinary research team led by Andreas Kleineberg, who re-examined and interpreted the Ptolemaic coordinates from 2006 to 2009, is currently locating Mattiakon after the transformation of the ancient coordinates in the area near Lahnau-Waldgirmes in Hesse . The remains of a Roman civil settlement have been excavated near Waldgirmes since 1993 .
Waldgirmes
Around 2000 years ago, near Waldgirmes, there was apparently a Roman city in the founding phase, which was probably abandoned after the battle in the Teutoburg Forest . An archaeological find that proves the name of the Roman settlement has not yet been excavated.
