The Boulder River (formerly also Rivers a Cross or Rivers across or Rivers-across ) is a medium-sized, fast-flowing mountain river in the southern US state of Montana .
The Boulder River has its source in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness on the northern edge of Yellowstone National Park . It flows in a predominantly northerly direction through the mountains and flows into the Yellowstone River near the village of Big Timber . It flows through the administrative districts of Sweet Grass County and Park County . The Boulder River has a length of about 100 km. It drains an area of 1360 km². The mean discharge near the mouth is 15.8 m³ / s. The highest monthly outflows usually occur in June.
Another river called the Boulder River is located in the southwest of the state of Montana, this flows into the Jefferson River .
