The variants are dijonnais , beaunois , verduno - chalonnais , valsaônois , north- morvandeau , auxerrois and langrois . The Bourguignon is spoken in northern Burgundy. Its territory extends somewhat into Franche-Comté . "Bourguignon" means bregognon in the language .

history

It is influenced by the Old Dutch because the late medieval dukes of Burgundy also ruled large parts of the Netherlands and Belgium and that was where the economic and cultural focus of their territories lay. For example, the word couque comes from the Old Dutch kooke (cake).

The ch sound is present in Burgundian varieties. There is also influence from Franco-Provençal , which borders around Lyon in the south.
