Bowerston is a village in Harrison County , Ohio , United States . At the 2000 census, the place had 414 inhabitants. In Bowerston is the starting point of the Conotton Creek Trail , an 18-kilometer cycle path on the route of a former railway line in the valley of Conotton Creek .

history

Bowerston was settled by David and Nathaniel Bowers in the early 19th century. When the two brothers came to the area, there were two mills on the south bank of Connoton Creek, one of which was a sawmill and the other a flour mill. In 1804 the brothers began to convert the two mills, the settlement called Bower's Mills was created in 1816. It was later named Bowersville and was eventually called Bowerston when David Bower, Henry Hoover and Nathaniel Bower founded the place on August 21, 1851. Bowerston was incorporated as the Village on April 2, 1883.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Bowerston lived in 414 people. The population density was 313.4 people per km ². There were 165 housing units at an average of 124.9 per km ².
