The Conotton Creek is a 62.3 km long left tributary of the Tuscarawas River in the eastern US state of Ohio . It drains an area of 741 square kilometers and is part of the river system of the Mississippi River . It drains into the Gulf of Mexico via the Tuscarawas River, Muskingum River , Ohio River and Mississippi River .
The Conotton Creek rises 4 km west of the village of Hopedale in eastern Harrison County at 376 m altitude. It flows generally in a north-westerly direction through the counties Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas and reaches 1 km south of Zoarville the confluence with the Tuscarawas River at an altitude of 265 m. The Wheeling Lake Erie Railway ran in the valley of the river from 1916 to 1988 . The Conotton Creek Trail was created on the former route , an 18 km long cycle path that leads from Bowerston to Jewett .
According to the Geographic Names Information System , the river was also referred to as Conolton Creek, Conoten Creek, Gutgatsing Creek, Kannotten Creek, Kennottenhead Creek, Knottenhead Creek, and One Leg Creek .
