The Box Springs Mountain is a 939 m high mountain in Riverside County , California , United States and the highest peaks of the Box Springs Mountains . Most of the mountain is protected as part of the Box Springs Mountain Reserve, a 4.67 km² park. Nevertheless, there are some radio towers on the summit.

Box Springs Mountain is located in Riverside County in California , USA , east of Riverside and northwest of Moreno Valley . It forms part of the common border between the two cities. Box Springs Mountain is 939 m high.
For many animals, the mountain is part of their habitat, including snakes , lizards , coyotes , lynxes , pumas , bears , deer and donkeys . The latter sometimes dare to get close to humans. There are also some eucalyptus trees that have been planted to mark water resources.
The mountain is prone to forest fires . These char the slopes and are a danger to the residents at the foot of the mountain.
history
Supposedly, the Box Springs Mountain came during the 1880s to its name, as carters to a source ( english : spring ) held to soak their horses. One of them went to the spring with a box and collected water in it.
On the riverside side of the mountain there is a large "C". It was built largely by students from the University of California, Riverside in 1957 . EL Yeager donated the materials for the C. Today the letter is located approximately 450 m above the campus and with dimensions of 40 × 21 m was once the world's largest cast letter from a concrete block. The C is often smeared with graffiti .
The letter "M" has been on Moreno Valley's side since 1966 . Between December 2nd and 6th, 2009, the letter was lit to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Moreno Valley.
