Kalla Tupac Katari (also: Calla Tupac Katari or Tupac Katari or Kalla Baja Tupac Katari ) is a town in the La Paz department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Kalla Tupac Katari is the central place of the canton of Kalla Tupac Katari in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Jesús de Machaca in the province of Ingavi . Kalla Tupac Katari is located at an altitude of 3879 m twenty kilometers south of Lake Titicaca on the western edge of the river plain of the Río Desaguadero . To the north-east of Kupac Katari runs a long ridge that rises to an altitude of 4,830 m.

Kalla Tupac Katari lies between the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Oriental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east in the Andean dry climate of the Altiplano . The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the mean seasonal fluctuations.
The annual average temperature is 9 ° C (see Nazacara climate diagram), the monthly values fluctuate only slightly between 5 ° C in July and 10 ° C in December.
