The Ruta 43 is a national road in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Routing
The road is 176 kilometers long and runs on the Bolivian Altiplano , from the La Paz region in the east to the high mountain ridge of the Cordillera Occidental in the west.
The Ruta 43 runs from northeast to southwest in the southern part of the La Paz department . The road begins at the town of Viacha , about 35 kilometers southwest of La Paz , as a junction of Ruta 19 . The Ruta 43 leads first in a westerly, then in a south-westerly direction through the deserted region of the Bolivian highlands and ends at the border station Hito IV on the border with Peru .
The first 39 kilometers of Ruta 43 (to Chama) are paved, the rest of the route is currently paved (as of 2018).

The road was declared part of the Bolivian national road network Red Vial Fundamental with Ley 3441 of July 19, 2006 .
