Stencil work “To die for” by Boxi, in Lüneburg ; created in 2009 as part of ARTotale

plant

Boxi is one of the stencil artists. He produces multi-layered, life-size stencils that he cuts out by hand and displays both on the street and in galleries. The full effect of the stencils is usually only achieved by placing them in the urban landscape or as part of an installation.

“Boxi calls attention to the individual process of perception and exposes the widespread tendency to only perceive things superficially. With his interventions in objects or situations that appear everyday, he questions the visible and makes it clear that final truths cannot be shown. [...] In addition to clear references to Romantic painting, the beginnings of Conceptual Art and Marcel Duchamp's development of the Readymade , Boxi dealt intensively with Picasso's pastel drawing "The Embrace" (L'étreinte) from 1903. In cooperation with the Hamburg street magazine Hinz & Kunzt , Boxi brought out the second street art edition . Twice a year, the magazine offers limited editions of works by street art artists for sale.

His works are represented in art collections, including the Reinking Collection .
