The Boyd Head is a headland up to 1000 m high with rocky outcrops on the Walgreen coast of the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . It is located immediately to the east of the confluence of the Vane Glacier with the Crosson Ice Shelf .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them using the United States Navy's own surveys and aerial photographs from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1976 after Captain Hugh F. Boyd III, construction project officer in Operation Deep Freeze of the years 1972 and 1973.
