The Brüelbach is a 1.4 km long left tributary of the Töss in the municipality of Illnau-Effretikon in the Swiss canton of Zurich . It flows through the deep Lootobel in the Kyburg state forest near Winterthur .

The Brüelbach rises at 643  m above sea level. M. in a strip of forest southeast of Kyburg near the rifle house in the eponymous area Brüel . After 25 meters long eingedoltem stream to the northeast, he first appears in a small ravine to the surface and at the same time takes its left tributary, and directly afterwards the Schülenbächli from the right.

From here the ravine becomes deeper and narrower, before it widens again from the right after the confluence of the Vogelsangbächli and is now called Lootobel . The brook turns to the northwest, where it takes up Lootobelbach and Loobach from the left. A little later it flows out at 468  m above sea level. M. in the Leisental (also Linsental) from the left into the Töss .

Catchment area

The 1.18 square kilometer catchment area lies entirely in the municipality of Illnau-Effretikon and consists of 51.4% near-natural area and forest as well as 48.6% agricultural area. The highest point is 689  m above sea level. M. on Brünggberg south-east of the source. The average altitude is 632  m above sea level. M.

In the west lies the catchment area of ​​the Mülitobelbach and that of the Schlossgraben and to the east that of the Sörenbach , which all drain directly into the Töss. In the south is that of the Hellbach , which feeds its water to the Töss via Wissenbach .
