Braden Currie (born May 30, 1986 in Methven ) is a duathlete and triathlete from New Zealand . He is a three-time Ironman winner (2017, 2018, 2019).

Career

In 2014 Braden Currie was third at the ITU World Championships in Cross Triathlon and in 2016 he was able to repeat this success.

In 2015 he won the “Coast to Coast” World Multisport Championships for the third time in a row. The race includes running, cycling and kayaking stages over a total of 242 kilometers.

Ironman winner 2017

In March 2017 he won the Ironman New Zealand in Taupo (3.86 km swimming , 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running ). At the Ironman Hawaii he finished 31st in October and at the Xterra World Championship, the then 31-year-old finished seventh in the cross triathlon in Hawaii two weeks later.

In June 2018 he won the Ironman Cairns in Australia in 7:54:58 h with a new course record and personal best Ironman time. At the Ironman Hawaii in October, he finished fifth.

In June 2019, the 33-year-old won the title again and with it his third Ironman gold at the Ironman Cairns.

Braden Currie lives in Wanaka with his wife.
