Bradley Cooper (athlete)
Bradley "Brad" Cooper (born June 30, 1957 ) is a former Bahamian discus thrower . At the beginning of his career he was also active as a shot putter.
After bronze medals at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1977 and the Central American and Caribbean Games in Medellín in 1978, silver followed at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton . The following year he won silver in the shot put and discus throw at the Central America and Caribbean Championships. At the Pan American Games in San Juan , he won silver in the discus throw and was eighth in the shot put. In the same year he became an NCAA champion in discus throwing for Florida State University , the discipline on which he should concentrate from now on.
The boycott of the Bahamas prevented participation in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. In 1981 he was again Central America and Caribbean runner-up. In 1982 he won silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Havana and won the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane . In the following year, a victory at the Central American and Caribbean Championships followed, a twelfth place at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki and another silver medal at the Pan American Games in Caracas .
At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he was eliminated from the qualification. At the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1985 and the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1986, he won bronze each; a boycott of the Bahamas deprived him of the chance to defend his title at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. In 1987 he won his third silver medal at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis and was tenth at the World Cup in Rome . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he did not get past the first round.
He finished fourth at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland.
