history

Josefskapelle in the Brambacher Hof

Brambacher Hof was built in the Middle Ages as an estate in the middle of a cleared area. The place name refers to the blackberries ( Middle High German brame ), which are common at the edge of the forest, and the nearby water stream, Waschbach . The farm originally belonged to Oedheim and was owned by the Lords of Weinsberg until 1419 , then by the Capler von Oedheim until 1516 and then owned by the Teutonic Order . In 1687 the previous leaseholder Wilhelm Behringer from Degmarn acquired the farm. The estate was continuously expanded through continued clearing and divided several times. Ownership shares and rights were temporarily with the Lords of Gosheim and the Schöntal Monastery . After the mediatization of the Teutonic Order in 1806 and the transition to Württemberg , the Brambacher Hof, which functions as an independent community, came to Kochertürn. In 1814, the residents of the Brambacher Hof were parish changed from Oedheim to Kochertürn. In 1931 the independence of the community ended and the farm came under the administration of Kochertürn. In the 1970s there were 16 farm positions in the Brambacher Hof. The Josefskapelle in Brambacher Hof was built in 1875 and renovated in 2005.
