The Brandy Bay is a 3-km wide bay on the northwest coast of James Ross Island , which from the western San Carlos Point and east of Bibby Point is limited. At the head of Brandy Bay are the Abernethy Flats , one from a water braid laced gravel plain .
The Swedish polar explorer Otto Nordenskjöld was probably their discoverer in October 1903 during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903). During the subsequent visit to this bay in 1952 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey , there was among the participants as a result of a dog bite to the debate about whether the injury with medical Brandy ( English brandy ) should be treated. The event gave the bay its name.
