The Okres Bratislava I , the administrative center of Bratislava , capital of Slovakia in the far west of the country. It essentially consists of Staré Mesto , the old town , formerly the sole urban area, and immediately adjacent districts. The district has 41,255 inhabitants (2007) and an area of 10 km².
Historic Bratislava lies on the left bank of the Danube and is surrounded by the later incorporated districts of Bratislava II , Bratislava III and Bratislava IV , while the Bratislava V district borders on the right bank of the Danube .
