Felsenau Brewery

The Felsenau AG brewery was founded in 1881 by Johann Gustav Hemmann. His descendants now run the business in the fifth generation. The brewery is located in the Felsenau district on the northern outskirts of Bern on the banks of the Aare and has an annual output of 20,000 hectoliters.

history

The beer brewer Johann Gustav Hemmann ran breweries in Würenlingen in the canton of Aargau and Zollikofen near Bern from 1860 . In 1881 he acquired the property in Felsenau an der Aare, which at that time already contained a simply furnished brewery, a distillery and a tannery . Hemmann concentrated on the brewery and stopped running the distillery and tannery. He called his product "Hemme beer".

In 1955 the general partnership was converted into a stock corporation. In 1993, fifth generation representatives, Stefan Simon and Martin Thierstein, took over management of the company.
