The Team Bravo España (also: Bravo F1 or Bravo Grand Prix ) was a Spanish Motorsport team, which for the Formula 1 season in 1993 , but ultimately did not compete reported. The team was in contact with the British racing car designer Simtek and made detailed preparations for participation in the race. After the sudden death of one of the owners, Bravo withdrew the report before the first race of the season.

Team history

Bravo España was founded by the Spanish Ducati importer Jaume Magrans i Perello and the French motorsport manager Jean-François Mosnier, who headed a quasi-works team for Lola in the Formula 3000 in the 1980s . With financial and logistical support from the Spanish Motorsport Association, Magrans and Mosnier developed the conceptual basis of the "first Spanish works team in Formula 1" in the course of 1992.

The British specialist Simtek, who had delivered a racing car to the underfunded and poorly organized Italian team Andrea Moda Formula in the 1992 Formula 1 season, was commissioned to design the chassis . The Simtek owner Nick Wirth was announced as the technical director of the future racing team. Most sources assume that Wirth based the conception of the Bravo car on his Andrea Moda S921 , which in turn went back to a design that Simtek had created for BMW in 1990 : Like the S921, the Bravo S931 should also have a ten-cylinder engine from Judd (type GV) and a six-speed gearbox from Dallara . In October 1992 Simtek began building two chassis. At the same time, Bravo announced the signing of Jordi Gené and Nicola Larini as drivers; Team manager should Adrián Campos are.

In December 1992, Mosnier died unexpectedly. Then the Bravo project came to a standstill. Funding for the project was no longer secured after Moisnier's death. In addition, the S931 did not pass the mandatory crash test. Due to insufficient financial resources, the S931 could not be further developed. In January 1993 Bravo then withdrew the message about the Formula 1 World Championship.

The team registered in February 1993 to participate in Formula 3000 . A Reynard chassis for Jordi Gené should be used here. This project also failed before the start of the season.
