Bravo Two Zero - Behind Enemy Lines ( Bravo Two Zero ) is a South African - British war film from the year 1999 , which on the memories of Andy McNab based. Directed by Tom Clegg , the script was written by Troy Kennedy-Martin .

action

An eight-soldier sub-unit of the SAS commanded by Andy McNab is deployed behind the front line in the Second Gulf War . It is supposed to destroy the launch pads of the Scud missiles as well as impair the enemy's communication lines. The operation is alias Bravo Two Zero .

The radios of the unit cannot be used, silenced handguns and other special equipment are already in use by other sub-units and are therefore no longer available. The unit is cleared up by a local goat boy and surrounded by numerically superior Iraqi forces. The soldiers try to reach the border with Syria , 170 km away . A soldier leaves the squad in a storm and makes his way to Syria. Two soldiers die in a gun battle or from hypothermia, the rest are captured and tortured. Five soldiers return home after acts of war.

Reviews

Steve Rhodes wrote in his review stored on Rotten Tomatoes that the film should have shown more special effects instead of documentaries. The main actor Sean Bean plays " well ", but he is not able to carry the film. The supporting actors are " borderline ". One of the strong points is the portrayal of the details of the war. The film shows a " great story ", but it is " mediocre ".
