John Robert Brayford (born December 29, 1987 in Stoke-on-Trent ) is an English football player .

Career

Burton Albion and Crewe Alexandra

John Brayford made his debut in the 2005/06 season for Burton Albion in the fifth-rate Conference National and established himself in the subsequent season as a regular at the club from Burton-upon-Trent . 2007/08 the team reached the play-offs as fifth, but failed prematurely at Cambridge United .

On September 1, 2008, the 20-year-old Brayford moved to third division club Crewe Alexandra and quickly secured a place in the defense of his new team. Crewe finished the Football League One in 2008/09 third from bottom and rose to the fourth division. The Football League Two ended the club in the 2009/10 season only in the lower third of the table. John Brayford was able to stand out despite the overall negative team performance and was elected to the PFA Team of the Year of the fourth division at the end of the season .

Derby County

On May 19, 2010 John Brayford was committed by the second division club Derby County . In Derby he met his former coach Nigel Clough , who had already coached him at Burton Albion and also made a regular at the second division. Brayford (46 league games / 1 goal) finished the Football League Championship 2010/11 with his team in 19th place in the table.
