The Bremer River is a river in the Australian state of South Australia .
It rises on the eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges at an altitude of 431 m and flows into Lake Alexandrina and thus into the Murray River .
The main tributaries are Mount Barker Creek through the town of Mount Barker and Dawesley Creek , which has its source near Brukunga .
The largest city in the river basin is Mount Barker. The small towns of Nairne and Kanmantoo are also close to the river. The towns of Harrogate , Callington and Longhorne Creek are located directly on the river , where the river water is used to irrigate the vineyards.
