Bremen Town Musicians Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bremen Town Musicians Prize was an award that was presented annually from 2009 to 2012 in the four categories of media , culture , civic engagement and tourism / city marketing . Its name should be reminiscent of the Bremen Town Musicians , whose history has carried the name of the Hanseatic City of Bremen into the world for centuries .

The winners were selected by various Bremen institutions: from Radio Bremen and the Weserkurier for the media division , from the Bremen Theater and the International Kulturforum Theater Bremen eV for the culture division , by the Bremen mayor for the civic engagement division and from the Bremen Economic Development Corporation and the tourist association of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen for the tourism and city marketing sector .

The honors were given to personalities and institutions who made Bremen known nationwide with their commitment and work. The price was undoped. Since 2010, the award winners have received a print of a drawing of the Bremen Town Musicians by Vicco von Bülow, alias Loriot , who was among the first to receive the award in 2009, but could not appear for health reasons, and Radio Bremen then received a picture of the Bremen Town Musicians drawn by him as a thank you sent.

The awards in 2013 and 2014 were canceled "due to deadlines"; in 2014, a press report described the award as "irrelevant".
