Wroclaw marathon
The Breslau Marathon (Polish Wrocław Maraton ) is a marathon in Breslau (Wrocław) that has been taking place since 1983. It is organized by the City of Wrocław. In the first ten years it was called Maraton Ślężan and was carried out on a route from Sobótka (Zobten am Berge) to Wroclaw; since 1993 it has been taking place within Wroclaw.
In 1988 the premiere of the European marathon championship for seniors was integrated into the race. It won the Poles Henryk Więzik (in 2:33:51 h) and Anna Bełtowska-Król , who was also the overall winner. From 1991 to 1993 and from 1994 to 1999 the Polish marathon championship was organized as part of this race. When it was held in 1992, the route turned out to be too short at 41.845 km.
route
The start and finish is at the Olympic Stadium . The course initially leads through the districts of Sępolno and Biskupin and leads over the Most Grunwaldzki (Kaiserbrücke) to the old town district on the Great Ring . Then it goes south to the Krzyki district and west over the Aleja Hallera to the Fabryczna district , where the districts of Gądów and Popowice start. In an arc through the Kleczków - Karłowice districts, which are part of the northern Psie Pole district , you return to the Śródmieście district and through the Zacisze district you get to the starting point of the route.
