Brian Maienschein

Brian Maienschein (born May 22, 1969 in Independence , Missouri ) is an American politician. He belongs to the Republican Party .

At the age of seven, Brian Maienschein's family moved to Poway , Southern California . Brian attended local high school and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1991 . He then studied at the California Western School of Law and completed his training with a Juris Doctor . Maienschein now teaches election law at this college and the University of San Diego School of Law .

Brian Maienschein's political career began when he was elected to the San Diego City Council in 2000. He was re-elected in 2004 and served the maximum two terms allowed. After retiring from the city council, he worked on the San Diego County's program to combat chronic homelessness .

In 2012 Maienschein ran for the California State Assembly in the 77th electoral district and won the election with 60.1%. In 2014 he was re-elected with 65.8%.
