Brian Wenzel

Brian Wenzel (born March 27, 1991 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player .

career

Wenzel played in the youth of BG 2000 Berlin and then in the youth basketball league (NBBL) for Central Hoops Berlin. In 2008 he moved to Alba Berlin and also played for the club in the NBBL and in the second men's team in the Regionalliga.

In 2010 the 1.98-meter-tall winger moved to Science City Jena in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA , in 2011 he went to Braunschweig, where he mostly played in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB for SG Braunschweig until 2014 and also during the 2013/14 season played two games for the New York Phantoms Braunschweig in the basketball league .

In the 2014/15 season, Wenzel took a break before he was in the service of the second division team ETB Essen in the 2015/16 season . In 2016 he moved to VfL Kirchheim within the 2. Bundesliga ProA . After a third herniated disc, his playing career was suspended from 2019, instead Wenzel took over tasks as a youth coach in Kirchheim. When Kirchheim's head coach Mauricio Parra was unable to take up his position for health reasons in December 2019, Wenzel and sports director Christoph Schmidt temporarily looked after the second division team. At the end of the month David Rösch was hired as Parra's successor, while Wenzel became Rösch's assistant alongside his duties as a youth coach for the professionals.
