Brides of Destruction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brides of Destruction was an American hard rock band founded in 2002 by Nikki Sixx and Tracii Guns .

history

founding

Sixx and Guns formed a project called Cockstar with singer London LeGrand, drummer Kris Kohls and keyboardist Adam Hamilton . Hamilton left the group a short time later and was replaced by the guitarist and singer John Corabi ; the band renamed itself to Brides of Destruction . The group recorded a few demos , but the line-up wasn't stable enough - Corabi and Kohls left the band in 2003.

Here come the brides

The band did without a rhythm guitarist, so that Guns was now solely responsible for the guitar work, and strengthened themselves with the drummer Scot Coogan . In December 2003 the band's debut album, Here Come the Brides , was released in Japan , and in March 2004 in Europe and the USA. The album was well received by German-speaking reviewers. For example, Michael Rensen ( Rock Hard ) wrote:

“Since the Mötley Crüe reunion is still a long time coming, bassist Nikki Sixx has teamed up with some friends to form a full rocking band that is far too good to rot as a mere pastime in the hobby room. Together with Tracii Guns (LA Guns), Scot Coogan (All 4 One, Sinead O'Connor, Pete Yorn, Vanilla Ice), the talented singer London LeGrand and the ex-Crüe fronter John Corabi, who has dropped out again, Sixx worked on an album, that combines solid heavy rock with subtle glam inserts. Show-off solos and embarrassing refrains are thankfully in vain; The Brides Of Destruction please with their mature songwriting and a serenity that can only be developed after many years in the turbulent music circus. Here Come The Brides exudes a pleasant calm and balance, without having to forego a robust skirt with a lot of street dirt in the lungs. If Mötley Crüe doesn't work anymore, Sixx can continue to gamble with the Brides with a clear conscience - the team's creative potential is definitely more than sufficient. "

The album peaked at number 92 on the Billboard 200 ; in the summer of that year the band toured the USA, Australia and Europe and performed at the UK download festival , among others .

Runaway Brides

When the reunion of Motley Crue developed, decided Sixx, the project Brides of Destruction to let pause. In contrast, however, in 2005 Tracii Guns decided to continue the project and move on without Sixx. He hired bassist Scott Sorry to replace Sixx, and guitarist Ginger from The Wildhearts joined them.

The group recorded a second album produced by Andy Johns , which was released on September 13, 2005 in Europe under the title Runaway Brides . After another tour, the band stopped working.
