Brigade M was a Dutch right-wing rock band. It existed from 1995 to 2005 (unofficially until 2010) and was one of the most famous RAC bands in the country.

Band history

Brigade M was founded in 1995 by Tim Mudde as the successor to the hardcore band Opel Ka-Death . Initially, the group operated as the Mussert Brigade . No permanent line-up was able to establish itself until 1997. The music varied between Oi! and hardcore. In addition to old Opel Ka-Death songs , Brigade M, as the group called itself since 1997, also covered songs by Skrewdriver during live performances . In 1997 the first song Eigen Volk Eerst (Eng. Your own people first ) appeared on the right-wing rock sampler Welkom in Sassem , edited by Manfred Rouhs . The members of Brigade M also participated in the other bands of the sampler. The band's history then stagnated until in 1999 Tim Mudde hired new comrades-in-arms for the second part of the sampler (which was only released in 2001). Then some songs were created for various samplers.

In 2001 a first demo was released under the name Holland , in 2002 the first single Boycot McDood with the cover songs Bundeswehrpilot von Landser und Wickie (title song by Wickie und die stark Männer ). The live recordings of these songs come from a gig in Ramstein for the NPD in 2002. In 2003, a freely available single was released on the Internet and the split CD Diets-Deutsche Kameraden with the German right-wing rock bands Stromschlag and Schutt & Asche. In June of the same year, the debut album Trouw aan Rood, Wit, Blauw (German: loyalty for red-white-blue ) was released. As with the band's early releases, the album featured xenophobic , nationalist and patriotic songs. A split CD with the Ukrainian band Tsirulnya was also released that month.

In 2004 a free single was released that referred to the murder of Theo van Gogh . In 2005 the band played at the first Festival of the Nations . The performance on October 16, 2005 in Dussen together with the Belgian band Lion's Pride in front of 350 nationalists from several countries was the farewell performance of the group. It was the largest right-wing rock concert that has ever taken place in the Netherlands. The accompanying DVD, which will be released in 2006, was indexed on July 29, 2009 in Germany . The last album Nationaal-Revolutionair was released in a Dutch version in 2005 and in a German version on PC Records in 2006 . In 2006 the album was also released in English . Then Brigade M disbanded. Nevertheless, the group was still represented on various compilations and in 2008 a split CD with De Ruyter Korps was also released. Occasionally Tim Mudde appeared as Brigade M with changing line-ups.

ideology

Tim Mudde (2004)

Brigade M was closely involved with the Blood and Honor network, which is banned in Germany , and has repeatedly played for the German party NPD. There was a close connection to the band Landser. Brigade M are featured on several tribute albums for this group and their singer Michael Regener . The group was also repeatedly involved in right-wing extremist crimes. For example, a former singer in the group was convicted in The Hague in 1999 for desecrating a Jewish cemetery . In Germany, the DVD Rock voor Dietsland and the split album We're Gonna Fight are indexed.

The band name was initially derived from Anton Adriaan Mussert's Landwacht Netherlands , but today, according to the official website, the M stands for “ Metapolitics ”, a “ culture war ” strategy of the New Right .

Brigade M sees itself less as a music group, but as a “propaganda tool” for “national revolutionary propaganda”. The group prides itself on working with numerous right-wing extremist organizations as individuals, but as a band not affiliated with any organization.
