The Briggs Peninsula is a small peninsula in the northeast of Anvers Island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It separates Inverleith Harbor in the east from Fournier Bay in the west.
The northeastern extension of the peninsula was mapped in 1927 by participants in the British Discovery Investigations . They named it Briggs Point after the seaman Alfred Charles Briggs (1905–1988), a member of the geodetic team on this expedition. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee changed the name in 1959 after evaluating aerial photographs in order to better reflect the nature of the object.
