Brigitte Raskin

Brigitte Suzanne Albertine Joseph Raskin (born July 25, 1947 in Aarschot ) is a Flemish writer and journalist .

biography

Brigitte Raskin is the fifth of six children and grew up in a middle-class Catholic environment. Her father, Paul Raskin, was a justice of the peace , her mother, Maria 's Heeren, died in 1959 when Brigitte was twelve years old. In the secondary school (kostschool Paridaens) in Leuven she learned among other things Latin and Greek. She completed a degree in modern history at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL). She also studied journalism and communication sciences for a few semesters . The historical investigation is mostly also the starting point for their literary work.

In the 1970s she worked for magazines such as De Nieuwe , Knack and De Groene Amsterdammer . From 1975 to 1980 she was a history teacher in Sint-Pieters-Woluwe , Halle and Brussels . In the 1980s she became known as a participant in discussions on television name Noemen ("name names") ( VRT program ). Raskin made her debut as a writer in 1988 with the documentary novel Het Koekoeksjong (a reconstruction of the life of Frans Maes ). In 1989 she stopped teaching; since then she has worked exclusively as a writer and journalist and publicist.

Brigitte Raskin is married to Edgar Alsteens. They have three children together.
