Brigitte Ratz

Brigitte Ratz (later Brigitte Ratz-Maróthy ; born July 19, 1929 in Vienna ; † January 24, 2006 ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

Brigitte Ratz, daughter of the musicologist and Schoenberg student Erwin Ratz and the violin soloist Lonny Ratz, studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar . From 1948 to 1974 she played in various theaters, including 1948 to 1950 at the Theater in der Josefstadt , the Scala Vienna and the Burgtheater in Vienna, in 1953 at the Münchner Kammerspiele , at the Volksbühne Berlin , in Hanover and Graz. From 1949 to 1960 Ratz starred in several films, then in various television productions. In 1961 Ratz was awarded the City of Vienna's Promotion Prize for Actors. In 1974 Brigitte Ratz became the first chairwoman of the newly founded women's department of the "Art, Media, Liberal Professions Union" (KMfB), since 1990 honorary chairwoman. In the same year, the Federal President awarded her the Silver Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria .

In 1982 the “1st Women's Chamber Orchestra of Austria” was founded by Brigitte Ratz with the aim of forming a very good ensemble of highly qualified young musicians, soloists and award winners and thus to bring the musical potential of women to the public. In 1999 she was awarded the title of professor. She was married to Andreas C. Maróthy. They both had five children together. The second daughter died of a serious illness in adolescence. Ratz's final resting place is at the Döblinger Friedhof in Vienna.
