history

The first prototype of the T1 drove on the streets of Prague as Tw 5001 on November 22, 1951 . A total of 287 of these railcars were built between 1951 and 1958 . There were no side cars or articulated trains of the T1 type.

Most of the T1 were used in Czechoslovakia itself, only two cars went to Polish Warsaw and 20 to Soviet Rostov-on-Don .

The cars were in use in Czechoslovakia until the 1960s before they were converted to type T3 vehicles with a new car body . The last T1 was adopted on April 4, 1987 in Plzeň .

The prototypes 5001 and 5002 are preserved in the Střešovice Tram Museum ( Muzeum Vozovna Střešovice ) in Prague . 5001 even has the old pantograph .
