development
In the early 1970s, Egypt became another buyer of Tatra trams. A total of 200 vehicles were built between 1970 and 1973. The K5AR was delivered exclusively to the Egyptian capital Cairo . The car body of the K5AR was based heavily on the K2 . In the technical area, the engine output was increased from 40 to 44.5 kW, and the cars were adapted to the subtropical climate.
At the beginning of the 1980s , most of the cars were taken out of service because they were no longer operational due to their poor condition.
