The Tatra T5B6 is a type of tram from the Czechoslovak manufacturer ČKD Tatra , of which only two copies were produced. One of the two cars is still available today as a historic railcar for special trips.

Development and use

According to the ideas of the Soviet companies, two prototypes of the T5B6 were produced in 1976. They were first tested briefly in Prague under the numbers 8009 and 8010 and then for a year on the express tram routes in Most . The tests in Most showed good driving characteristics, but there was no series production because the USSR did not want to accept a price increase compared to the T3SU. The transport company in Most bought the two railcars and gave them the numbers 272 and 273. In 1996, railcar 273 was refurbished as part of the 95th anniversary of the tram in Most and is now available for special trips as a historic railcar. With a car body width of 2.60 m, the T5B6 was the widest classic tram car built by CKD Tatra.
