RT6N1 is the type designation of a tram locomotive from the Czech manufacturer ČKD Tatra . The series presented in 1993 is the manufacturer's first to use low-floor technology. The low-floor share is 63%.
history
In addition to the new design and the low-floor technology, the new type also differed technically from the manufacturer's older vehicles. For example, the vehicles have a top speed of 80 km / h - 65 km / h for the old vehicles, stronger starting and braking acceleration and a more powerful engine itself. The performance compared to the old vehicles is almost double here.
The prototype was extensively tested in Prague from 1994 and later in other Czech cities. The journeys were mostly made outside of the passenger hours.
Regular service began in 1996. A year later, four more vehicles each were delivered to the cities of Prague and Brno . The Polish city of Poznan also ordered ten vehicles from the manufacturer. Some of them were delivered ex works, but some of them were only assembled on site.
The comparatively small number of units remained, as the type was to be replaced by the successor type RT6S from the mid-1990s .
