Brigitte Wenzel-Perillo

Brigitte Wenzel-Perillo (born February 24, 1949 in Bösdorf near Leipzig ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After graduating from high school in Aschersleben , which was linked to vocational training in agriculture, Wenzel studied veterinary medicine at the University of Leipzig ; she completed this course as a veterinarian. She practiced this profession from 1975 to 1980 at the District Veterinary Institute in Frankfurt (Oder) , and from 1979 also at the BIV Leipzig . In 1980 she officially left for Italy after marrying an Italian. She lived with her husband and daughter in Rome until November 1991 , after which the family returned to Leipzig.

After her return to Germany, Wenzel-Perillo joined the CDU. She was a personal assistant to Gertraude Gruhle, member of the state parliament . In 1999 she was elected to the European Parliament . She was a member of this until 2004, when re-election failed. She also ran for the European Parliament in the 2009 European elections , but again received no mandate. Today she is President of the German-Italian Society in Leipzig.
