British Airways World Cargo

British Airways World Cargo , formerly British Airways Cargo , was a division of IAG Cargo and operated air freight services under the British Airways brand . In terms of total freight kilometers flown, it was the twelfth largest cargo airline in the world. The freight services were provided on the main British Airways fleet and special cargo planes operated under a wet lease agreement with Global Supply Systems .

history

British Airways opened a World Cargo Center at Heathrow for the first time in the late 1990s ; it was an automated cargo handling center capable of handling unusual and high quality cargoes and fresh produce, of which it handled over 80,000 tons per year. BA World Cargo also carried freight at London's Gatwick and Stansted airports and , through its partner British Airways Regional Cargo, at all major regional airports in Great Britain .

The company ended operations on April 30, 2014, was completely merged with IAG Cargo , but without continuing to operate its own cargo flights. BA World Cargo also operated an automated freight center at London's Heathrow Airport and had a base for long-haul freight services at London's Stansted Airport .

Following the end of British Airways World Cargo, a new cargo airline, CargoLogicAir , started operations in 2015 and retained some employees from Global Supply Systems .

Destinations

BA World Cargo operated special cargo planes from London-Stansted to Africa , the Middle East , the Indian subcontinent , East Asia , North America and Europe .

fleet

As of April 2014 , the BA World Cargo fleet consisted of three Boeing 747-8Fs operated by Global Supply Systems in wet lease .

BA World Cargo also used the space on special cargo ships of other carriers.

Previously, Boeing 707-320C , Boeing 747-200F , Boeing 747-400F and Vickers 953c Merchantman were also operated.
