Bronco Banyon McKart (born March 20, 1971 in Monroe , Michigan ) is a former American professional boxer. He was briefly WBO light middleweight champion in 1996 .

He was managed by Jackie Kallen and is the younger brother of former professional boxer Matt McKart.

Career

Between 1992 and 1996 he won 27 of 28 fights, 20 of them prematurely. He defeated boxers with positive records like William Ruiz (21-4), Skipper Kelp (18-1), Engels Pedroza (39-6), Ian Garrett (21-3) and Aaron Davis (40-3). He suffered his only defeat against Clayton Williams (4-0). In March 1996, he finally won the WBO world title by an early win against Santos Cardona (30-6), who had already boxed three times for a world title. However, he lost the title in the first defense fight in May just on points to Ronald Wright (34-1).

In the following fights he beat Shane Lanham (11-0), Glenwood Brown (47-8), Kenny Ellis (21-0) and Jason Papillion (31-3). In June 2000 he won the North American Championship of the NABF with another win against Papillion . In September 2000 he lost again on points to Ronald Wright. A third time he boxed against Wright in September 2002. It was about the IBF world title . However, McKart was disqualified in the eighth round due to several low blows. In April 2003, he lost points to Verno Phillips (34-8).

In October 2004 he boxed for the WBA world championship belt , but lost on points to Travis Simms (23-0). In July 2006 he lost prematurely to Kelly Pavlik (27-0). Against the Mexican Enrique Ornelas (25-3) he won the NABF title again, this time in the middleweight division. In March 2008 he reached over ten rounds a draw against Raúl Márquez (40-3). In another fight for the NABF title, he lost to Roman Karmasin (36-3). In July 2012 he also lost prematurely to Anthony Mundine (43-4).

In May 2014 he played his last fight and lost after three knockdowns by tKo in the first round against Tony Harrison (17-0).
