Bronwyn Eagles

Bronwyn Louise Eagles (born August 23, 1980 in Camden , New South Wales ) is an Australian hammer thrower .

At the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton , she won the bronze medal behind Yipsi Moreno and Olga Kusenkowa with a width of 68.87 m . In the same year she took second place at the IAAF Grand Prix Final in Melbourne . She also won the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester with 65.24 m, the silver medal behind Lorraine Shaw .

With her personal best of 71.12 m, achieved in Adelaide in 2003 , Eagles also set new records for Oceania and the Commonwealth . In the following international competitions, however, she was unable to build on this performance and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 and at the 2004 Olympic Games .

After she had already announced her retirement from competitive sport in 2006, she started again in national competitions in 2008. She won the Australian Championships in 2008 and 2009. She had previously succeeded in doing this in 2001–2002 and 2004–2005. In 2010 she competed at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and finished fifth.

Bronwyn Eagles is 1.78 m tall and has a competition weight of 100 kg.
