Basics and goals of project work

The development of sustainable structures and cooperation on equal terms form the basis of the project work. The selection of project partners in the countries of the South is independent of religious affiliation or ethnic group. Bread for the World Austria sees itself as a development partner who works together with those affected to combat the causes of poverty and hunger. The goals are sustainable food security , which is to be achieved through support for smallholder agricultural production and allotment gardens, cooperative training courses to maintain traditional cultivation methods or the provision of goods such as drought-resistant seeds, saplings, tools and cattle for milk production.

In addition, Bread for the World supports projects that in particular help people with disabilities and disadvantaged women to lead a self-determined life through schooling, vocational training, legal advice and health care. The protection of the human rights of every person and a non-violent coexistence should be promoted through the project work.

But in Austria, too, Bread for the World campaigns for global justice and food sovereignty through education, public relations and lobbying work . The public relations work of Bread for the World Austria has set itself the goal of informing the Austrian population about the causes and backgrounds of hunger, poverty and oppression of people in developing countries and about the project work in the affected areas.
