Bruce Enns

Bruce Enns (* 1944 / 1945 ) is a Canadian basketball coach .

Life

Born in Winnipeg , Enns began his career in 1958 as a youth as a basketball coach at the Canadian school Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute in Winnipeg. In 1973 he took over the coaching of the men's team at the University of Winnipeg , which he held until 1985. In the same year he became a coach at the University of British Columbia . He coached the UBC team in 15 seasons and led them to the top tier in Canadian college basketball. In 1987 British Columbia was runner-up in Canada under Enns' leadership, and in 1992 and 1996 they reached the semi-finals. In 1978 (as coach of Winnipeg), 1990, 1991 and 1996 (during his tenure at the University of British Columbia) Enns was named Coach of the Year by the Canadian College League. In 2001 he was inducted into the Manitoba Provincial Basketball Hall of Fame . Enns was an assistant to the staff of the Canadian men's national team under three different coaches.

At the beginning of the 2000/01 season Enns was the coach of the Irish club Clare Jets, but the team withdrew from the game in October 2000. Enns has also worked in China, France, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea and the United States during his coaching career. In Austria he coached the Bundesliga club UBC Mattersburg , it came to a separation in October 2001. In the 2002/03 season to February 2003, he was coach of the second division BBC Bayreuth in Germany . Enns made Marco Amelow his assistant in Bayreuth , who succeeded him when Enns gave up the office in Bayreuth.

In the field of wheelchair basketball , Enns coached RSV Bayreuth, won the world championship with the Canadian women's national team in 2006 and was a member of the coaching staff of RSV Lahn-Dill from 2009.
