Bruno Gehrig (born December 26, 1946 in Rorschach ) is a Swiss manager.

Gehrig studied economics , graduated from the University of Bern in 1975 as Dr. rer. pole. from and completed his habilitation there in 1978 after studying abroad at the University of Rochester , USA, with a study on monetary policy . From 1971 to 1980 he worked as an assistant and lecturer at the University of Bern, from 1978 as a private lecturer .
Professional background
From 1981 to 1984 Gehrig was head of the economic department of the Swiss Bank Corporation. In 1985 he completed a year of training in international banking. From 1988 he headed the main stock exchange and securities sales department of the Swiss Bank Corporation. From 1989 to 1991 served as chairman of the management of Bank Cantrade. From 1992 to 1996 he held a professorship for business administration at the University of St. Gallen and director of the Swiss Institute for Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen. In 1996 Gehrig was appointed head of the III. Departments appointed to the board of directors of the Swiss National Bank , of which he was Vice-President from 2001 to 2003. From 2003 to 2009 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Life insurance group . As part of his political activities, he was President of the Economic Policy Study Group at CVP Switzerland from 1984 to 1991 . From 1992 to 1996 he was a member of the Swiss Federal Banking Commission . He was the 2006 Honorary Doctorate ( Honorary Doctorate of Laws ) awarded the University of Rochester.
From November 2010 to June 2016, Gehrig was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss and until 2013 Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Roche Holding . In addition, Gehrig was a member of the UBS Board of Directors until 2014 and is currently a member of the Management Board of Economiesuisse .

Gehrig is married and has three grown children. He lives in Winterthur .
